Axillary imaging
Ultrasound of the groin allows you to visualize abnormalities and pathological changes in their area . The examination makes it possible to determine the existence of pathologically altered structures, even at an early stage of their formation and possible development.
Indications for groin ultrasound:
- pain in the groin area
- appearance of thickenings/nodules/ bulges
- appearance of skin lesions
- Discomfort occurring during increased physical exertion
- enlargement of the inguinal lymph nodes
Contraindications to performing an ultrasound of the groin
There are no contraindications to performing an ultrasound of the groin – the examination is completely safe, regardless of the age of the patient. What’s more, it can also be performed without any concerns in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It can be performed in very short intervals, as the high-frequency sound waves responsible for the formation of the image do not affect the human body in any negative way.
Preparation for an ultrasound of the groin
An ultrasound of the groin does not require a doctor’s referral or special preparation. It can be performed at any time. In order to ensure maximum comfort for the patient, we recommend dressing to facilitate easy access to the examined area.
Course of the study
The patient scheduled for an ultrasound of the groin, should appear at PP DIAGNOSTYKA 30 minutes before the scheduled examination. This is because this time is necessary to fill out the required documentation, and above all the medical questionnaire, which is an extremely important element for the radiologist. Upon entering the office, a medical history is taken. In addition, the doctor reviews any previous medical records relating to the area being examined. The patient is then asked to take an appropriate position and expose the area being examined. The doctor then performs the ultrasound examination, guiding the camera’s head through the inguinal fossa. The examination lasts from a few to several minutes, and after it is completed, the doctor discusses what was imaged, draws up and issues a written result and any further recommendations.
